More about the people behind BITEmagazine

The cover models are the publisher's mother and aunt, circa the early 1950s. All baby photographs were kindly provided by the authors of the pieces with which they appear.

exists because these people made it.

Laura Podolnick, Publisher and Editor in Chief, has been playing with magazines since she was very wee. She likes portobello mushrooms, aesthetically pleasing number sequences, and laundromats.
Fiction Editor Melissa Faith Talev is a perpetual student. Right now she's studying French and Anthropology, but she's most interested in becoming a supervillian. Alas, she lacks the sass and requisite malicious nature. Instead she is very nice, and spends most of her time not doing evil deeds. Melissa lives in Charlotte, NC, with 3 cats, a dog, and a husband. None of them know her secret imaginary identity.
Nonfiction Editor David Sticher is a 24-year-old floating baby in Romania, and he remains physically and emotionally unchanged and unmoved to this very day.
Joe Tepperman just started as Poetry Editor for BITEmagazine. Most of his published verbiage is either in the form of research papers or music reviews. He lives in Los Angeles, where the graffiti is often impressive.
Political Editor Dora Fisher is on her way to having a Master's Degree in Political Science and Public Policy. She has worked in city-level political advocacy for economic development, housing, domestic violence, and the elderly. She also likes to cook, and to read and write political non-fiction!
Photography Editor Dasha prefers the train to the bus most of the time, and is unfortunate enough to sometimes be attracted to shiny objects. Also occasionally loud in the library.
.Copy Editor Erica Barmash knows how to use a semi-colon correctly. This might be her biggest achievement.
